It’s time to start casting your vote for your next Ward 11 City Council member. Below is everything you need to know to make your voice heard and help elect Jamison on Nov. 4!

Voting 101:

  • The big, important question! The details are listed in the drop-downs below, but the simple answer is…

    1. Check that you’re allowed to vote.

    2. Register to vote, if you haven’t already.

    3. Cast your ballot early in person, by mail, or in person on Election Day.

    4. Watch the results roll in on election night!

Full instructions for how to do each step are below.

  • You can vote in Minnesota if you are:

    • A U.S. citizen

    • At least 18 years old on Election Day

    • A resident of Minnesota for 20 days

    • Not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction

    • Not under a court order that revokes your right to vote

  • Great question! You can register online on the MN Secretary of State’s website (linked here) until October 14.

But if you miss that deadline, don’t worry - you can still register in person when you go to vote on Election Day!

    To register ONLINE, you’ll need:

    • Your MN driver’s license or MN identification card number, or the last four digits of your social security number

    • An email address

    To register IN-PERSON, you’ll need:

    • An ID with your current name and address on it (ex., a driver’s license or Tribal permit)

    • OR, a photo ID and a document with your current name and address on it (ex., a driver’s license and a phone bill).

For the full list of allowable documents, visit the MN Secretary of State’s website.

  • You can cast your ballot EARLY IN-PERSON (Sept. 19 to Nov. 3) at the Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services Center and a handful of other pop-up locations. Full locations and hours can be found here.

You can cast your ballot ON ELECTION DAY at your polling place on Nov. 4. You can find your polling place using the MN Secretary of State’s website (https://pollfinder.sos.mn.gov/)

  • Great question! There will be more on your ballot than just Jamison’s race this year. You can look up what will be on your ballot using this tool from the MN Secretary of State.

  • Thanks for voting even though you’re busy or out-of-town! The best options for you are going to be casting your vote early in person or by mail.

You can vote early in person from Sept. 19 thru Nov. 3 at various locations in Minneapolis. Full locations and hours can be found here.

You can vote by mail by ordering your absentee ballot on the MN Secretary of State’s website. It is recommended that you order your ballot by Oct. 28th to give it time to be mailed and returned.

Remember, your mail-in ballot must be received by Election Day (Nov. 4), so please give yourself enough time to order it, fill it out, and return it. You may also drop it off in person to the Election Office that sent you your ballot (NOT your polling place) until 5:00 pm on Election Day.

  • You can track your ballot using this tool on the MN Secretary of State’s website.
